Have you ever thought why we switch off our cell phones in flight? Let us see the logical and an interesting reason behind it. We had heard that the radiation from the phone causes problem in the electronic devices in the plane. But that is not the fact. While the cell phones are on, the pilot may receive a disturbance in his / her headphones. It can be annoying for the air controllers as well as the pilot, which can be irritating and therefore cause an accident. This is dangerous for all those who are on board the plane.
The fact is, till date there has been no accident caused because of passenger gadget. But it is safe to obey the rules, the safety protocols and tips given by the attendants. There have been some minor problems, which have occurred due to the electronic devices being used during a flight. Though we don’t have much information of the problems, according to NASA, a passenger’s Kindle Reader was crushed when a First Class Sleeper seat was retracted causing a fire and smoke. A Flight Attendant put the fire out while the flight crew accomplished the Smoke and Fire Checklist, including declaring an emergency.
In recent days FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) has told that the passengers should be allowed to read, listen to music, and watch TV in the flight mode, but they would not be able to send any text or emails. And most important, the rules for not using personal equipment while take off, taxi and landing should not be forbidden. Some of the airplane manufacturers, like Boeing, are trying to reduce the electronic interference. Many airlines provide Wi-Fi on board which just needs to connect your device with the router, using radioactive waves, with the help of which we can use our all applications that needs the internet. This kind of a facility can help us to connect to our near and dear ones.
