Industrial Design Centre (IDC) and Office of Continuing Education & Quality Improvement Programs, IIT Bombay introduce a new short term course on Automotive Styling & Design

For all of the petrolheads out there, who are passionate about cars designing and want to learn the ropes from professionals of the game, here’s good news! Industrial Design Centre (IDC)- IIT Bombay and Office of Continuing Education & Quality Improvement Programs, IIT Bombay have come up with a short term course on ‘Automotive Styling & Design’. The course has been tailored to shed light on everything that goes into designing visual appearance or aesthetics of the vehicle.

The course will be held at IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai from 20 to 25 March 2017. It will be conducted by Nishant Sharma, IDC, IIT Bombay and Automotive Industry Expert Sathiya Seelan G. The last date of registration for the course is 15 March 2017. The course comprises of series of lectures and design demos that will give participants an exposure to vehicle design trends, journey from sketch to vehicle, skills-resources-tools, sketching-rendering, Computer Aided Styling (CAS), Clay Modeling, Exterior-Interior, Instrument Panel, Colour-Material-Finish, Experience and Interaction Design.

Details of the course are stated as follows:

The course will be divided into three modules.

Module 1: Automotive Styling & Design

Module 2: Exterior Design

Module 3: Interior Design

The short term Automotive Styling & Design course is aimed at candidates from the field of automotive, transportation, and also from Government organizations. Product Designers, design engineers, studio Engineers, auto ancillaries and Suppliers, automotive accessories designers, and faculty members of design institutes can make use of the course. Students of design, engineering, architecture, and fine art will also benefit from the same.

On completion of the course, participants will be awarded a certificate from the Continuing Education Programme of IIT Bombay.
