Here’s your first look at Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs and Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak in the new Jobs biopic

The official Steve Jobs biopic has been mired in developmental hell since its birth, but it has finally commenced shooting, as we reported earlier. Lead stars Michael Fassbender and Seth Rogen were in Apple’s home town of Cupertino, California filming for the movie last week, and some production stills have now surfaced on Twitter.

And, just as we’d secretly feared, Michael Fassbender looks nothing like the Apple co-founder. As you can see in the images, Fassbender is supposed to be portraying the Apple cofounder as he looked in 1984, while Rogen plays his partner, Steve Wozniak. Rogen does looks a little bit like the Woz in the 1980s, but we can easily name a lot of Hollywood actors that could look as much or more like Jobs than Fassbender. Foremost among them would be the studios’ first choice, Christian Bale. Then there’s Ashton Kutcher, who portrayed Jobs in an independent biopic of the same person. There’s also Noah Wyle who has got the mannerisms of Jobs pat down in the made for TV movie, Pirates of Silicon Valley.

The script for the upcoming movie is penned by Aaron Sorkin, who, like director Danny Boyle, is an Academy Award winner. The movie is believed to take place backstage at three product launches, ending with the iMac’s debut in 1998. Other notables in the cast include Jeff Daniels as former Apple CEO John Sculley, Kate Winslet as former Mac marketing lead Joanna Hoffman, Kateron Waterston as Jobs’ former girlfriend Chrisann Brenna, and Michael Stuhlbarg as Mac programmer Andy Hertzfeld.

The movie had a tumultuous path before filming began, including the exit of director David Fincher, and a number of high-profile actors who turned down the lead role. Even the studio behind the movie swapped hands after Sony passed on the film last November, bestowing it to Universal Studios.
