The phone gets an unspecified quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 2GB of RAM. Internal storage is 16GB, expandable to 2TB through an external card.

The phone gets a 13-megapixel rear camera with f / 2.2 aperture, and a 5-megapixel f / 1.8 front shooter. Both cameras get back side illuminated (BSI) sensors for great low-light performance. The Desire 650 doesn’t have dual SIM support, and gets only a single Nano-SIM. The phone also gets BoomSound tech on earphones, similar to that on the HTC 10 and HTC 10 Evo.

Battery is a relatively small 2200mAh unit, though HTC is claiming it can deliver up to 17 hours of talk time and up to 672 hours of standby. The phone measures 146.9 x 70.9 x 8.4mm and weighs 140 grams.

The Desire 650 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with HTC Sense UI on top.

An interesting feature about the Desire 650 is its ‘double back’ comprising twin textures. So while the half of the phone’s back panel flat rubber while the other half comprises a textured, ribbed surface. Apparently, the design helps the Desire 650 offer great grip.

The phone will be available to customer from early December in shades of White and Black with contrasting highlighting in places like the camera bezel and power button.
