Huawei has announced its new fitness wearable today, namely Huawei Fit. just the way it looks, its a watch-like fitness tracker with a touchscreen and a rather traditional look, but loads of tech rammed tight. The touchscreen isn’t coloured though and has a monochrome hue. The Huawei Fit can count steps, keep a track of your sleep, and monitors heart rate continuously during workouts with multi-axis motion sensor. The price for the Huawei Fit starts at $129.99 and the device is available at online stores such as Amazon, BestBuy or NewEgg.
So while that monochrome screen might look very fancy, it allows the Fit to last much longer than a similar device with a full blown colour screen. Huawei claims that the Fit can last for as many as 6 days if you are judicious with your usage. The Taiwanese company is also claiming a mammoth 30 days of standby time. All that battery power comes only with 2 hours of charging.
Expanding a bit more on that name, Fit, the capabilities of the new watch are pretty impressive. The Fit comes equipped with an accelerometer which can automatically figure out if you walking, running, or, well, doing nothing worth reporting at all. Talking of reports, the watch can report in terms of distance, steps taken, calories burnt, time duration and quality of sleep. To top it all, the Fit also offers training guidance for various activity types including but not limited to running and walking.
While the Fit doesn’t have its own GPS, it can connect to your smartphone and receive the coordinates via the Wear app with some assistance from Bluetooth. A Bluetooth 4.2 protocol allows for a fast, stable connection and lesser consumption of power. The Fit can also display notifications from your phone on its monochrome screen.
The Huawei Fit will be available in silver or grey colours for the body with the straps available in black, orange, or blue straps.
While not a fashion statement like the Apple Watch, the Huawei Fit does its fitness bit well, looks good and is available for a relatively small price. For those looking at a reliable, fashionable fitness tracking tool, this one is a great option to have a look. Or is it? Do let us know your thoughts.
