Hulu partners with Disney, 50+ movies to be available exclusively on the streaming service

With Netflix hammering down both Hulu and Amazon, the former has a plan to hit back. Partnering with Disney, Hulu now has exclusive rights to stream over 50+ Disney movies. The list looks pretty interesting, with titles like Mulan, Pocahontas, The nightmare before Christmas, Air Bud and Sister Act being a part of the it.

Among the 50-plus titles that will land on Hulu in the coming months include, Lilo & StitchTarzanThe Emperor’s New GrooveMuppet Treasure IslandThe Princess and the Frog, Con Air, Gone in 60 Seconds, The Mighty Ducks, Pearl Harbor, Step Up, and Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion.

Although the list comprises of mostly family oriented flicks, there are a few action and thriller titles available for grown ups. However, this collection does not include recent releases such as Star Wars: Rogue One, as Netflix has streaming rights to Disney films released in 2016 and beyond.

Apparently, Walt Disney owns a 30 % stake in Hulu and while it continues to be a Video-on-demand service, it has scheduled a launch of its live services this year. It already has a deal with the Disney-ABC Television Group to stream Disney Channel and its family of kids’ programming networks as well as more than 20 Disney Channel Original Movies.
