Indie Games – the starlight of new Google Play Revamp

The Google Android App storefront has come up with a new Indie Corner, which now makes it easier for users to find unique game ideas from independent developers. Google had promised during the tech and advertising company’s Developer Day at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in March and with this new India Corner, the company is seen following it up. During the conference, developers had been invited to submit their titles for consideration with the Indie Corner designed to “highlight amazing games built by indie developers”.  According to Google, the apps would be chosen based on two broad criterias, namely, quality of experience and exemplary use of Google Play game services.

This announcement has come at a time when Google Play is reportedly launching a new criteria of game services for developers and players, both, to investigate. According to sources, over a dozen titles have been collated for the first Indie Corner showcase. It is however interesting to note that just over half of them are available as free downloads. Many of the featured games are already well known among users of mobile gaming communities, but the showcase by Google will most certainly help broaden their audiences.
