iOS 18 to Introduce India-Centric Customization, Enhanced Keyboard, and Language Features

Apple’s upcoming iOS 18 update, set to launch later this year, will bring a host of India-specific features to enhance user experience. These updates include expanded customization options, improved language support for the default keyboard, Siri, and the Translate app. Additionally, iOS 18 will introduce advanced controls for users with dual phone numbers. The developer beta versions of iOS 18 and other Apple operating systems are already available for testing, with a public rollout expected in the coming months.

Enhanced Dual SIM Functionality and New Features

iOS 18 will offer users a new toggle in the redesigned control center, allowing seamless switching between two SIM cards, similar to features found on many Android devices. This update ensures that iPhone users can effortlessly switch between their primary and secondary SIM cards.

Features from iOS 17, such as Live Voicemail Transcription and Live Caller ID, will be available to Indian users in iOS 18. These tools provide real-time transcriptions of voicemail messages and live caller identification, enhancing call management. The update will also bring T9 searching and dialing support, along with improvements to call history searches.

Indian Numerals and Customizable Contact Posters

The new iOS 18 will allow users to display the Lock Screen clock in numerals from 12 Indian languages. Previously, iOS 17 offered numeral options in English, Arabic (Indic), Devanagiri, Khmer, and Burmese. This list will expand to include more languages, allowing greater personalization.

Users can also customize the font weight and color on their Lock Screen and Contact Posters. Supported languages will include Arabic, Arabic Indic, Bangla, Devanagari, Gujarati, Gurmukhi, Kannada, Malayalam, Meitei, Odia, Ol Chiki, and Telugu.

Advanced Multi-language Support for Keyboards and Siri

Siri will be updated to respond in Hindi and understand Indian English commands that incorporate phrases from nine languages: Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu.

The default iOS 18 keyboard will support typing in two additional Indian languages using Latin characters. This feature will enable users to enter text in English while simultaneously typing in Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu, supported by trilingual predictive typing.

With these enhancements, iOS 18 is set to deliver a more personalized and efficient user experience for iPhone users in India, further strengthening Apple’s commitment to catering to diverse linguistic and cultural needs.
