The new yet to be launched iPhone 7 Mini boasts of a 4 inch top to bottom screen sans the usual home button. This particular design may seem enticing to many but industry experts believe that all isn’t the way it seems. Top designer Marek Weidlich believes that the new and seemingly different iPhone will only be a bit rubbish and that it will in all probability be a gimmick to up-sell larger models. This iPhone mini, is not expected to be a smart phone powerhouse in a smaller package, rather a sales tool to boost the sales figures of larger iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models.
Fueling the rumors of Apple designing a smaller phone to sit beside its larger handsets when the iPhone 7 is released next year, renowned tech writer Evan Spence says that it is highly unlikely to achieve the dream of high performance in a four inch smart phone and anything smaller than that is surely going to be weak by design and a company gimmick to up-sell users to larger models.
This yet to be launched phone is actually yet to be formally named. The smaller phone is also known, among internet mongers, as iPhone 7C and iPhone 6CS. What the official name will be can be confirmed only once Apple makes a formal statement in that regard. This smaller phone is expected to have similar functionalities like its elder brothers, like a Touch ID Fingerprint Scanner and a pressure sensitive force touch screen, albeit in a smaller frame.
However, things could also take a turn as Apple may actually intend to make this phone less powerful than the two larger phones, thus justifying its smaller size and a comparatively lesser price. So, one could expect a lower screen resolution and also a less powerful battery in this new upcoming phone.
