About fourteen years ago, when Airtel started operations in Mumbai, to lure subscribers, it offered free SMS for up to 3 months. Other operators then had to follow the strategy and come up with similar carrots to retain customers. However, the world has moved on since then and Airtel now finds itself on the other side.
Hit by the Jio wave, Airtel is now offering 3GB of free 4G data for its existing and new customers, every month, until December 31, 2017. Subscribers can avail this offer as long as they latch on to select Airtel 4G Prepaid and Postpaid plans. The offer is available across India starting today and will be valid until February 28. Here’s what you need to do to avail the offer.
Prepaid Customers
Subscribers will get 3GB of free data with every Rs 345 calling recharge, which offers free local and STD calls to any network in India as well as 1GB of data per cycle. Clubbed with the offer, this would mean that the user can enjoy 4GB of data each month. Customers can avail of the additional 3GB of free data benefit via the MyAirtel app, and free data benefits on subsequent recharges will be automated. Airtel specifies that the pack benefits will be valid for 28 days and can be availed for a maximum of 13 data recharges till December 31, 2017.
Postpaid Customers
Airtel’s 3GB of free data per month offer can be availed if postpaid subscribers opt for any of Airtel’s Infinity plans. It includes calling benefits, bundled data, some free SMS, as well as free subscription to Wynk Music and Wynk Movies. Postpaid Airtel customers can claim the free mobile data through theMyAirtel App. Prices may vary from circle to circle and customers can only avail the 3GB data per month offer within the first 30 days of purchasing or upgrading to a new 4G handset.
