The Kantar Worldpanel report has come up with report of worldwide smart phone OS share that talks ofGoogle eating into Apple’s share. Compared to the same time last year Android gained 65.5 percent in the US that is approximately 7.3% more. Android phones have about 77 percent market share in China’s urban regions which shows an increase of 6% compared to last year. In UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, which are the five popular European regions, the market share has gone up by 75.6 percent, which is about 7.1 percent higher than last year.

In a statement Kantar mobile analyst Lauren Guenveur said this is the strongest growth for Android across the EU5 in more than two years. What’s more, the growth is coming not just from one or two players, but from different brands and ecosystems, varying from region to region. These numbers indicate that  when it comes to the number of devices Android is gaining an edge over iOS. In US Android’s massive gains are believed to have come from sales by ecosystem partners like Samsung, Motorola and LG. Android has also received a boost since Samsung Galaxy S7 has got a strong start. The Samsung Galaxy S7 was the fifth best-selling device in the last quarter of the financial year 2016. Inspite of being available only for few weeks during the sales period it captured 4.2% of sales. Due to price reductions before the S7’s release the Galaxy S6 also performed well. Maximum sales was seen in Motorola’s Verizon.
