LEAKED: Samsung Galaxy S8+ specifications out, will feature an IRIS Scanner

Samsung has confirmed that it will make an official announcement about the upcoming Galaxy S8 at the MWC 2017. However, a specifications list of the Samsung Galaxy S8+ has leaked online just days before the event. A big brother to the S8, the Galaxy S8+ will feature a 6.2-inch QHD+ SUPER AMOLED display. And as opposed to earlier rumors, instead of 6GB RAM, the new device will carry 4 gigs of random access memory.

The specifications sheet also mentions that the phone will come with a 12MP rear camera with dual pixel tech, which will allow obtaining accurate focus on any objects in the frame regardless of the phone’s position. The front will be a 8MP lens. It gets an IP68 rating, which makes it dust and water-resistant for at least 30 minutes at depths of up to 1.5m. The S8+ will get an IRIS scanner, which is the laziest way to unlock a phone and can also be used for other applications. The Galaxy S8+ will ship with 64GB of onboard memory, which can be further expanded via a microSD card.

The device will be secured with military grade Samsung Knox technology, feature support for Samsung Pay and wireless charging (a charging pad will be sold separately). It will run Android 7.0 out-of-the-box and will in all probability be powered by the latest Snapdragon 835 chipset, Qualcomm’s latest, fastest and most efficient chipset yet. To please audiophiles, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature AKG tuned earphones. We will bring you more details about the S8+ and also its smaller brother, the S8, as and when any news rises in the air. Stay tuned.
