LG, South Korean consumer electronics major launched its new range ‘Mosquito Away TV’ series on Tuesday. This TV acts as a mosquito repellent, and has been priced between INR 26,900 and INR 47,500 in India. During the launch, LG India said in a statement, the LG Mosquito Away TV, developed as per the Indian insights by consumers, is equipped with an Ultra Sonic device which once activated, uses the sound wave technology and makes mosquitoes fly away without emitting any harmful radiations. According to the company, the technology complies with the norms of global organizations and has also been tested by International Institute of Biotechnology and Toxicology (IIBAT), India.

The statement added, this technology does not use any chemicals, used in other toxic repellents, nor does it require refilling or any other maintenance. According to the claims made by the company, the operation does not require the TV to be on to make the mosquitoes fly away. Howard Lee, Director – Home Entertainment, LG Electronics, said, LG is constantly introducing products based on Indian insights, making them more meaningful for the Indian consumers. The new Mosquito Away technology in television is an extension of this philosophy, transiting beyond viewing experience and truly building a healthy environment at home.

Customers will have to shell out INR 26,900 for a TV with a screen size of 80 cm and up to INR 47,500 for a TV with screen size of 108 cms. The new series will be available at select LG brand stores.
