If you are planning to land at the Incheon Inernational Airport, South Korea, be ready to behold a marvelous display of the world’s largest OLED panel. LG electronics has set up a stupendous 13 metre high and 8 metre wide display made of 140 units of 55 inch curved OLED panels to create a sight that is now adorning the main terminal of the airport. This marvelous feat was achieved by a close collaboration between LG Electronics and the French design firm – Wilmotte and Associes. Together they have taken the award winning airport to new highs.

The spectacular display put up equals in size to three large sized shipping containers. This massive structure has been put up in a way that it is seen hanging from the ceiling of the main terminal for all passengers to see. None can miss this display as the bright colors immediately catch one’s attention. OLED is the future of display panels and the display put up at the airport will feature a variety of content to demonstrate the capabilities of OLED technology. The most striking feature of the display is that it hangs from the ceiling with minimal support.

This was made possible because of one of the main merits of OLED technology. Each pixel in an OLED display emits its own light and therefore does away with the need for heavy LED backlighting. This also allows the airport displays to be extremely light and flexible. Park Wan-su, the President and CEO of the Incheon International Airport says, These OLED displays perfectly complement the advanced technology that our airport has become known for.
