Xiaomi plans to launch the Mi 5 flagship smart phone after the spring Festival. The spring festival is starting on 8th February 2016 and then continues for 15 days. The launch has already been confirmed by Xiaomi. Now, Liwan Jiang who is the Co-Founder and Senior VP of Xiaomi, via GizmoChina, revealed that Mi 5 will go on sale immediately one week after the launch. But he has still not specified whether the phone will be available only in China after one week of the launch. But following the past launches it seems quite likely.
In an earlier statement Liwan Jiang had disclosed that the Mi 5 has entered mass production and the company will make sure that there are enough number of units available for consumers as soon as the phone is launched. There are many rides on the success of the device and hence it is the most anticipated flagship smart phone for Xiaomi. The company had shipped over 70 million phones in the year 2015 which was much lower than the company’s expectations.
From many months Xiaomi has been teasing the launch of the Mi 5 smartphone. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun made a statement back in November saying that the phone is extremely good and is definitely worth the wait. The phone is going to sport a 5.2-inch display which will have either full-HD or QHD resolution. The phone is going to have two variants based on the memory – 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage and 3GB of RAM with 32GB inbuilt storage. The phone features a 16-megapixel camera present at the back side and a 13-megapixel front camera for capturing selfies. It packs a 3600mAh battery that uses Quick Charge 3.0 tech which increases the phone charging speed. The phone will be running on MIUI 7 which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
