Marshmallow to reach OnePlus One soon

OnePlus has announced that it will soon roll out Marshmallow update to its OnePlus One users across the world. As per the company, Cyanogen is rolling out Android Marshmallow update for the OnePlus One devices. The company claims that the new Android version will arrive with the latest cyanogen version that was released last month. Starting today, the update will roll out to a few select users and later, is expected to reach all users in a phased manner.

OnePlus One wrote in an online forum yesterday, “our friends over at Cyanogen have informed us that CM 13.0 based on Marshmallow will drop starting tomorrow. The drop will be stages so only some of you (random) will get it at first, and as always, patience is appreciated.” The new software that is expected to reach the device is Android 6.0.1, which was first announced in November, 2015. The version comes with core Marshmallow features like Doze and Google Now on Tap. There are a couple of modifications though, which involves a new messaging app and a fingerprint sensor for accessing protected content.

OnePlus One was launched in India in December 2014 and was then available with Android 4.4 Kitkat. The company designed its custom Android ROM, with an intention to rival Cyanogen, in December 2015, which was a year after its official launch in India. The custom ROM was named Oxygen OS. The company already released the latest Oxygen 3.0 beta for its OnePlus Two devices last month which brought the latest in terms of OS to the current flagship device of the company.
