Meizu hasn’t yet tasted much success in the Indian smart phone market, but the company has some really good looking smart phones in its portfolio. For instance, new Meizu m3 Note that was announced at an event on 11 May. It doesn’t fall into the flagship material category, it is surely a nice blend of design and specifications along with a competitive price of INR 9,999. But does this phone stand a chance against the likes of Xiaomi, Lenovo and LeEco? Here are our first impressions of the smart phone.
Similar many other smart phones in this price category, the new m3 Note arrives with a metal uni-body design. Meizu’s inspirations from the iPhone are clearly visible as well. Even then, the phone looks and feels great for a device that is priced under the INR 10,000 bracket. The aluminum build gives the smart phone a premium look and finish and the overall design feels solid. This is very much similar to its predecessor, the m2 Note. The phone feels comparatively sleek being just 8.2mm thick, and it fits well in the hand. All thanks to the curvy build at the back.
The front side of the device has a 5.5-inch display and right above it is the front camera. All sensors like the ambient light sensor and the earpiece are lined up neatly beside the camera. The company does not offer the traditional navigation keys that are synonymous with Android devices, so there is just a home button below the display which also doubles up as a fingerprint reader.
The right side of the device houses the volume rocker and power/sleep buttons. These buttons feel solid to the touch. On the left side, the company has provided a slot for the hybrid SIM tray, so you can either put two nano SIM cards or one nano SIM card and one microSD card together. The bottom end of the device features the microUSB port and grilles for the loudspeaker. On the back side is the 13 MP camera with a dual-LED flash and the Meizu branding.
