Microsoft Build 2016 India: See what you can expect

In Bengaluru we find Yellow Messenger making use of Microsoft’s Cognitive Services. They are exploring conversational commerce through bots, meaning if you want to purchase shoes you just tell the bot to show you shoes and then they will ask whether you want men’s shoe, women’s shoe or children shoes, which colour what size etc. Many APIs allow system to use the language that you would like to hear, see, speak, etc such that it helps in better understanding of the conversation and fulfills the need of the user. In Pune, on Friday, at its Build 2016 tour event Microsoft had demonstrated Cognitive Services.

Microsoft showcases all the tools that developers can use to make Windows apps in Build which is an event for window developers. The focus of the keynote was in reaching out to them as 40 percent of Microsoft’s cloud platform Azure’s revenue came from Independent Software Ventures and startups. During the keynote the senior Program Manager of Microsoft, Jeffrey Burtoft said when developers want to do machine learning, when they want to use bots, we want them to think about us.

When we want to converse without a human being present on the other side, Bot is used. On Skype, Web, Slack, Facebook Messenger, etc we find Microsoft’s Cognitive Services work. While talking about the work Microsoft is doing to bring these tools to India, the Director of ISV Business at Microsoft, Mr. Harish Vaidyanathan said not all conversations are in English. This is India right? Being able to do multilingual conversations in one stroke is one of Yellow Messenger’s key features. He also said that Yellow Messenger can do many things such as clicking a picture and then asking others to show something similar. He added those are some of the things that Yellow Messenger does. It’s already live on Facebook, Telegram, and Skype.
