Microsoft Edge Browser Capable of Providing 70 Percent More Battery Life

With its new revamped Edge browser, Microsoft has now entered the battleground of browsers. The Redmond based company in its latest drive, had launched a video test where they compared the battery life of laptops that run Edge, with the battery life of laptops that ran other browsers like Chrome, Firefox, and even Opera.

The Redmond based company Microsoft claims that the Edge delivers almost 17 to 70 percent more battery life than their competitors. Microsoft ran the Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and Opera browsers on the Surface Book for testing. The Chrome browser which lasted for approximately 4 hours 20 minutes was the first to lose, the second to follow was the Mozilla Firefox, which lasted approximately a little more than 5 hours. Opera, with its new battery saver feature competed in the game for 6 hours 18 minutes before giving up. Last to remain was the Edge browser which lasted for 7 hours 22 minutes before draining the battery of the Surface Book, therefore the Edge Browser was the winner in the competiton. The Microsoft Edge browser lasts 3 hours more than Chrome, which means almost one movie longer or in other words we can say it is capable of providing up to 70 percent more battery life. It should be remembered that this test had been taken under the most ideal conditions, and therefore the results may be different with different Windows 10 devices.

In the blog we find Microsoft stating that we continue to focus on power efficiency with regular updates to Windows 10, and the Windows 10 Anniversary Update will include even more power-saving improvements, using fewer CPU cycles, consuming less memory, and minimising the impact of background activity and peripheral content like Flash advertisements. These improvements will build on the efficiency demonstrated below to make sure you can stay online longer with Microsoft Edge.
