Motorola, which has been taken over by Lenovo, has launched the ultra affordable has unveiled its Moto E phone in the UK. The cheapest phone in the Moto range is priced at £99 (a little above INR 8K). The Moto E3, as the phone is known as in its newest avatar, increases in size and now gets a 5 inch (720 x 1280 pixel) screen as opposed to the 4.5 inch size earlier. Tech specs have been beefed up too, and the phone now boasts a quad core, Snapdragon 410 processor along with an expected 1 GB of RAM.
The rear shooter is an 8 megapixel unit with LED flash, whereas the front cam is a 5 megapixel unit. We hear both cameras are decent units for the price. 8 GB of memory is expected to come standard with the phone, though it’s not officially revealed, with an expandable Micro SD slot. Battery is a 2800 mAh block which should easily last more than a day going by the light hardware that it’s supposed to power. The battery on the phone is not removable, though the back panel is.
The phone also gets a splash-proof construction, along with what Lenovo claims as a “built-in smudge-resistant screen protector”. On the software front, the new Moto E3 runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.
Colour options for the Moto E3 are black and white, and the phone would be available in a dual SIM version for some regions.
As you’d expect, the phone will be 4G enabled and have all the standard connectivity options including Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi. At around INR 8,800 the phone has decent specs, but sounds a bit pricier than the previous version. We are hoping that the Moto E3 would sell for a much lesser price here in India.
The Moto E has always been one of the best value products on the market, and we earnestly hope that the model carries forth the legacy of its forebears under Lenovo’s aegis.
The phone will be available for consumers in the UK from September, and should be brought to Indian soon after.
Stay tuned for updates as and when they emerge.
