Revealed officially at the MWC 2017 in Barcelona, the Moto G5 Plus is all set to be launched in India on March 15th 2017. Lenovo has sent out an official invite for the event, where the device is pictured against New Delhi’s iconic Qutub Minar. Sporting an all-metal body and a circular housing for the rear camera, the Moto G5 doesn’t look radically different to its predecessor. However, it now manages to look more premium and brings a lot to the table as a mid-ranger.
The teaser only shows a picture of the Moto G5 Plus and there is no certainty if the G5 will also be launched along side. Although prices and availability for India will be announced at the launch event, in Europe, prices for the Moto G5 Plus start at EUR 229 (approx Rs. 15,500) for the 2GB RAM / 32GB storage model, and EUR 279 (approx Rs. 19,700) for the 3GB RAM / 32GB storage variant (storage is expandable till 256 GB). Pricing for the 4GB RAM / 64GB storage variant of the Moto G5 Plus hasn’t been announced yet.
The Moto G5 Plus will run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box and will be available in shades of Lunar Grey and Fine Gold. Google Assistant now comes to the Moto family, which means, users will be able to send messages, make calls, navigate, and manage everyday tasks by just holding the Home button. The G5 Plus’ 5.2-inch FULL HD display gets Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and water-repellent coating. A fingerprint sensor is available on the phone and comes with ‘One button Nav’, which allows screen navigation through the scanner.
The Moto G5 Plus is powered by a 2.0 GHz, octa-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and a 650 MHz Adreno 506 GPU. Optics on the G5 Plus includes a 12MP dual-pixel rear camera with F/1.7 aperture for really fast focus and better low light photography. It also supports 4k video recording and gets a dual-LED flash. The front snapper is a 5MP lens. Powering all the hardware on the Moto G5 Plus is a 3000 mAh battery with support for Turbo Charging, which promises to refill six hours of battery life within 15 minutes.
