Lenovo-owned Motorola has introduced their all new member to the Z family. Dubbed as the Moto Z Play the smartphone will boast the longest-lasting smartphone battery ever made by Motorola. It gets a thin, lightweight design with a solid aluminum frame and a glass back. The display comprises a 5.5” 1080p HD Super AMOLED display with 403ppi. The Z Play comes with Android 6.0.1, Marshmallow straight out of the box.
Powering the device will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor – 2 GHz Octa-Core CPU coupled with an Adreno 506 GPU and 3GB LPDDR3 RAM. The onboard storage is of 32Gb and can be expanded via microSD Cards upto a whopping 2TB. The company claims that the 3510mAh battery inside the Z Play can provide 50 hours of usage. The phone also supports TurboPower charging that pumps up 9 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes.
Speaking of the camera, the rear shooter comprises of a 16MP unit with f/2.0 aperture and dual autofocus; the front camera is a 5MP camera with a Wide-Angle 85° . The primary camera can shoot videos HD 720p (120fps), Full HD 1080p (30fps) and 4k (30fps) videos. We can expect a decent performance from this onboard camera hardware. The Z Play gets a Moto Mods connector, USB-C port, 3.5mm audio jack and a fingerprint Sensor.
It is also equipped with Advanced nano-coating technology that creates a water repellent barrier to help protect against moderate exposure to water such as accidental spills, splashes or light rain. Having said that, it is not designed to be submersed in water, or exposed to pressurized water, or other liquids, hence not waterproof.
Moto Z Play has been officially made available already. In the US it will be available on the company’s official website and Verizon as Moto Z Play Droid Edition for $408 (INR 27,195 approx). From October the GSM unlocked versions of the Moto Z and Moto Z Play will be up for grabs. The unlocked Moto Z Play will sell for $449.99 (INR 30,000 approx).
