Previously, the highly anticipated smartphone from the house of BlackBerry was teased by TCL through one of their official social media channel. The tweet that was put out on 3 Jan 2017 hinted that the upcoming BlackBerry will be brought out of the wraps at the 2017 Consumer Electronic Show but that never happened. Since the CES 2017 was given a miss, Mobile World Congress 2017 it is. BlackBerry has officially confirmed that their upcoming smartphone, DTEK70 a.k.a Mercury will be unveiled and launched on 25 February 2017 at the Barcelona event.
Android powered Blackberry Mercury will share Google Pixel’s fantastic Camera sensor
Well, there is no unveiling of the phone left as many spyshots, teaser images, and now the latest invite sent out by BlackBerry has showed the smartphone in its full glory. As per reports, Mercury will be Blackberry’s last in-house developed phone that will be introduced in the market. It will be an Android OS powered device and is expected to be get the latest v.7 Nougat. The info on the specifications is scarce but we have a few set of rumours that sound convincing.
The Mercury will bear a 4.6-inch FullHD display with a resolution of 1620×1080 pixels. Under its hood will be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 SoC, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. While these are just rumours, here’s what we do know – The BlackBerry Mercury / DTEK70 will sport BB’s iconic full QWERTY keypad that will be assisted by trackpads as seen on a few devices that came earlier out of the same factory. The smartphone will also feature a host of BlackBerry DTEK software optimized for privacy control and safety. More on offer will be a capable camera setup that will likely be borrowed from the Google Pixel.
