MWC 2017: Oppo to reveal ‘5X’ smartphone photography tech

At the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2017, most major smartphone makers are expected to unveil their latest smartphones, concepts and mobile technologies for this year. Oppo, a manufacturer who largely focuses on the imaging aspects of a mobile device, will unveil ‘5X’, their latest smartphone photography technology. It promises to give users an ‘unprecedented’ ability to take highly detailed images.

If one relates the term to the world of cameras, the logical conclusion would be that they’re probably going to reveal a new phone with an optical zoom camera. It could even be a snap on accessory, but only time will tell. Talking about the tech, Mr Sky Li, Vice President, OPPO, Managing Director of International Mobile Business and President of OPPO India said, “OPPO’s relentless pursuit of perfection without compromise has given birth to a remarkable technological breakthrough that will change how the world perceives smartphone photography.”

He further added, “This remarkable achievement is the result of an extensive, year-long R&D process, combined with OPPO’s unparalleled expertise in smartphone imaging technology. We chose MWC to unveil the ‘5x’ technology with the belief that we can inspire the industry to aim higher, and continue to create pioneering products that give amazing experiences to consumers.

A recent leak had also suggested that an Oppo Find 9 is in the works and could become the company’s next flagship device. It is tipped to be powered by either a Snapdragon 653 or an 835 SoC, with 4/6 GB RAM and 64/128 GB storage options. It could also feature a borderless 5.5-inch, QHD screen, while powering all the jazz will be a 4100 mAh battery. The rumored device could also support Oppo’s VOOC charging mechanism, which promises to recharge the pack with 75% of juice within 35 minutes of charging.
