Netflix is going from strength to strength with its original programming line-up. The company ahs just released a teaser trailer of its limited series Wet Hot American Summer, detailing the addition of new cast members in addition to the original cast, and it is nothing sort of stellar. Just take a look at the names: Jon Hamm, Star Trek‘s Chris Pine, Wes Anderson regular Jason Schwartzman and new Ghostbusters star Kristen Wiig.
The new cast members will join Elizabeth Banks, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, Christopher Meloni, Marguerite Moreau, Zak Orth, Amy Poehler, David Hyde Pierce, Paul Rudd, Molly Shannon, and Michael Showalter for the eight episode series, set to tell the story of the first day of Camp Firewood’s famous summer season, now fourteen years after the original film’s debut.
The 2001 cult film was set on the last day at a fictional Jewish summer camp in 1981, while the Netflix series is set on the first day.
Michael Showalter and David Wain, who wrote the movie, created the limited series, with Wain reprising directing duties and Showalter serving as showrunner. The two are also executive producing alongside the film’s producer Howard Bernstein, Jonathan Stern and Peter Principato.
