DataWind is a well known name when it comes to low cost internet access in emerging markets. The company has now come up with a 7 inch tablet, complete with an Intel Processor, which has been priced at INR 5,999 only. The new budget tablet PC is named i3G7. The processor used is Intel’s 64 bit quad core X3 processor, which makes it sound pretty good. The device will also support voice calling feature and according to DataWind, its internet delivery platform will also reduce data consumption by up to 97 percent, which is a significantly high amount.
Some specifications of the new tablet are as follows. The device comes with 8 GB of internal storage which can be expanded to to 32 GB using micro SD cards. The operating system is Android 5.1 lollipop and supports connectivity features like WiFi, Bluetooth and micro-USB connectivity options. The device also supports 3G via SIM slot and according to the company, boasts of a talk time of up to 4 hours. The device will be available online from Gadget360.com. The device does seem like a pretty good one for day to day use and multimedia content.
DataWind CEO, Suneet Singh Tuli said, with this new product, we are offering Indian consumers a unique combination of superior technology and unmatched style. Like its predecessors, the tablet offers the right mix of features and on-the-go connectivity. Considering that most new devices in the market are still shipped with Android lollipop, this too stakes the claim for providing users with almost the latest OS. The processor is good which rests any doubts regarding the performance factor of the device. The size of 7 inch is pretty decent for normal tablet use. Connectivity options are similar to what is found on most mid range devices. Overall, this sounds as a good bargain.
