New Educational Tools Introduced by Google

During the International Society for Technology in Education that is ISTE 2016 conference Google for Education has introduced new educational tools. Google’s Expedition kits was launched in partnership with Best Buy and available for purchase, but along with Google Expedition kits the Expeditions app was launched for free to anyone who was interested in it. For sharing of screens between machines and a projector a casting feature was introduced which was called Cast for Education. In Googe Forms they also introduced an easy way to take quizzes. The paid creative apps for Chrome books are WeVideo, Soundtrap and Explain Everything.

On the Android store expeditions is released. With the help of this application, a classroom can go on field trips to remote locations all around the world by just using virtual reality gear. For Expeditions, Google has a kit which contains 30 student devices and 30 VR viewers from Mattel. To act as a control point it also provides one tablet for the teacher. It also includes a router. This full setup which is needed for a virtual expedition can be purchased for $9,999 that will be approximately INR 6.7 lakh.

Student’s can wirelessly share their screens with a projector or other students with the help of Google Cast for education which is a free Chrome app. The app is integrated with Google Classroom. Also control measures are available to the teacher. Very soon this Cast for Education feature will be implemented. By using the Beta version of the app in Chrome those who are interested in trying it right away can do so. But the app will have to be manually installed on every machine during the Beta phase.
