There are rumors that for their upcoming device, OnePlus will ditch the number ‘4’, as it is considered unlucky for the Chinese. So in all probability, they will skip the digit and call their next flagship slayer, the OnePlus 5. But while the company is said to launch their next device sometime later this year, a new wallpaper has come to the surface and is making the rumor mill go crazy. Mobile reporter and a pretty bankable source of first-hand information, Evan Blass has put up a picture on his twitter handle with a question, “You know what this means, don’t you?”
A confirming answer to that question could only lie with the phone maker. However, if it isn’t just a new wallpaper, it could be a lot much more. There are already a few concept renders that have been created for the device, which imagine it to feature a glass-finish body, which could be made of ceramic. Like the upcoming Galaxy S8, the OnePlus 5 could feature a dual-edge display too. The device could also become a spec sheet and real world hero by employing 6GB, or 8GB of RAM to back the processor, which in all probability could be the nippy yet efficient, Snapdragon 835 SoC.
The highlight of the OnePlus 5 could be its 23MP rear camera which would work in conjunction with the new gen processor to enhance the phone’s photography qualities. Other predicted details include a USB Type-C port along with dash charging. A 4,000mAh battery and a front facing 16MP camera module that is expected to be similar to the current model. However, the teased image could just be a wallpaper and nothing else. So do take this report with a pinch of salt as there isn’t a way for us to verify these claims. However, we’ll bring you all the concrete information, as and when it arrives. Stay tuned!
