New phones in the Rs.6500-8500 Range: Samsung Galaxy J1 4G and J2 Ace (2017) launched

With an aim to grab a piece of the entry-level pie, Samsung on Friday launched two new smartphones in India. The Samsung Galaxy J1 and J2 Ace were announced yesterday, priced at Rs. 6490 and Rs. 8490, respectively. Both phones will go on sale starting January 16 through Samsung’s online and offline retail channels.

Part of Samsung’s  ‘Make for India’ initiative, both phones come with an Ultra Data Saving (UDS) Mode which compresses mobile data up to 50% for cost saving . They feature Samsung’s ‘S’ bike mode with rider optimizations, along with an ‘S’ Power mode, which allows efficient battery power management. Let’s take a look at their specifications.

Samsung Galaxy J1 4G

Still running Android 5.0 out-of-the-box, the Samsung Galaxy J1 4G features a redesigned front window and a faux leather back cover finish. It comes with a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor which is backed by 1GB of RAM. The device sports a 5MP lens at the rear and 2MP unit at the front at the rear and front respectively, and offers 8GB of in built storage, expandable till 128 GB via a microSD card. Powered by a 2050 mAh battery, The Galaxy J1 4G is available in shades of Gold, Black and White.

Samsung Galaxy J2 Ace

Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box, the J2 Ace features a 5-inch qHD display with Turbo Speed Technology (TST) that optimises RAM to open apps faster. It is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, backed with 1.5GB of RAM. The Galaxy J2 Ace features an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front. Both the back and front cameras feature f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. It comes with 8GB of onboard storage, which is expandable via a microSD card (up to 256GB). The back panel is built in anti-scratch material. Connectivity options on the Galaxy J2 Ace include 4G LTE with VoLTE support, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and USB 2.0. Powering the phone is a 2600 mAh battery.The phone is available in shades of gold, black and silver.
