Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has introduced another variant of the PS4 that will be launched this month. The new slimmer and lighter version will be called as the PlayStation 4 (CUH-2000 series) and will come with a 500GB HDD. Initially, the gaming console will become available in Japan, North America and in Europe starting from 15 September 2016. As of now the suggested price for the new PS4 is 29,980 yen for Japan and USD 299 for the US market; these prices roughly translate to INR 20,000.
The Sony PlayStation4 will get a reworked body design with its foreside and backside slightly angled. As said by the company, the corners are trimmed and curved, giving it a softer impression that would appeal to a wider range of audience. The new look will have the gloss finished PS family mark placed at the center of the top surface. The new treatment is not just skin deep as there are many changes made inside the console as well.
The inside volume of the new PS4 is reduced by more than 30% compared to the previous models. The weight is brought down by 25% and 16% compared to the first (CUH-1000 series) and current (CUH-1200 series) models respectively. Also, the new PS4 system is more energy efficient, as the power consumption has been cut by more than 34% and 28% compared to the very first and current models.
Current PS4 users, don’t be sad, there’s good news for you guys as well. All PS4 systems including the new slimmer model and PlayStation4 Pro will support HDR (High Dynamic Range) imaging technology. The new tech enables the reproduction of brightness and darkness while realizing a much wider range of colours. The new PS4 will also bring new games with it.
