Google is in for another round of criticism due to some users reporting their Nexus 6P rear camera glass cracking, without any explanatory reason. The handset manufactured by Huawei and recently launched is reportedly drawing flak from users around as many users have come forward to report the issue of the rear camera glass cracking. The reason for this is unknown as no user reported applying any pressure or the phone body going through any stress when the glass cracked.

Some countries are yet to receive the handset shipped even though several customers have reportedly pre-ordered the handset from online retailers and this news is set to impact the sales figures to a great extent unless Huawei or Google comes up with a reasonable explanation for the glass cracking of its own accord. Currently there are many speculations regarding the reasons for the glass cracking. Some say that the quick expansion and contraction of the glass when placed or taken in a hot or cold environment could be the cause. Users on Reddit have also come up with their own theories regarding the unexplained phenomenon.
However, both Google and Huawei are yet to officially respond to this issue. It is also not clearly known how widespread this problem is. Huawei needs to find out whether the problem is localized to a specific batch of the manufactured handsets or delivery location or whether the problem is same across all Nexus 6P handsets manufactured by the company. We shall be also waiting to see what solution the company offers to those who have been affected by the aforementioned problem.
The Google Nexus 4 had faced a similar issue as the handset sports a full glass covered back panel. However, Google took care of the issue by adding mini nubs on the corners of the phone body to prevent it from cracking. That worked and no user thereafter reported any issue. It now remains to be seen what measures Google takes to address this recent unexplained phenomenon.
