No 3.5mm audio jack or Home Button for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8; more info leaked

A lot rides on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8, with the company expecting to make up for what was lost in the recent infamous Note 7 debacle. The smartphone is reported to be coming out of the wraps next year at the Mobile World Congress scheduled to place from 27 February to 2 March. While the day is a couple of months away, there have been a lot of rumours and leaks about the phone popping up every next day. Today is the next day and here is set of new updates that have freshly emerged!

No 3.5mm Audio jack

It seems smartphone and laptop manufacturers have come up with a brilliant idea of making some extra cash by shaving of the essential jacks and ports from their devices and selling them as external adapters. Laptops lose these ports in order to cut on dimension and some weight, smartphones work on the same lines but there is more to it. LeEco did it, Apple did it, and now Sammy’s next in the list. The upcoming Galaxy S8 will likely miss out on the 3.5mm audio jack and might get replaced by a USD Type-C port.

This subtraction will allow Samsung save on the extra mm on the thickness section. Reportedly, Samsung is working with their newly acquired – Harman Industries to develop a new stereo speaker setup that will be fitted in the S8. A bigger battery is expected to be packed inside the smartphone as well. Also, this move will help Samsung promote their Bluetooth headsets.

Display

Almost all parts and screws used in manufacturing a Samsung smartphone is either made by Samsung or by its subsidiary, this end-to-end production capacity makes switching of technologies easy for the company. So, for the upcoming S8, Samsung is believed to adopt a visually richer display unit than the ones on the rest of its S-clan. The new display module will be more vivid and the picture quality will be substantially high. Hence, VR, movies, and gaming experience is going to few notches higher. Also, the home button will be ditched and the fingerprint sensor will be integrated in the display itself.

Construction

Not much details on this topic, but it is rumoured that the bodywork and construction of the Galaxy S8 is going to be pumped up with (more) strong and sturdy alloys. So, along with waterproof and dust-proof, Sammy is adding bulletproof unbreakable to the list. All of that is good, but we expect that the folks at Samsung don’t screw up with the battery this time, because if phones start to explode from inside the safe and solid outside won’t be of much help.

Here’s a list of features we know of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8:
