No refund on tablets, laptops, PCs, cameras, camera lenses and furniture by Amazon

Amazon website statement reveals, all tablets, laptops, desktops, monitors, cameras, and camera lenses that are fulfilled by Amazon and purchased on or after 11th May 2016 are eligible for a replacement only policy and will no longer be eligible for refunds. In case you have received a defective or a damaged product, you will be eligible for a free replacement.These limitations only apply to Amazon fulfilled products and other sellers are free to deal with the situation as they see fit.

Recently Amazon updated its returns policy where they excluded items like tablets, laptops, PCs, cameras, accessories and a few other items from getting refunds. This is a matter of concern to users, as if they receive any of the above mentioned products in a damaged condition, or if the product turns out to be defective then the user is at a loss, because he will only get a replacement but no refund if he decides that the product is no good. This limitation is seen only in Amazon products.

On Amazon’s returns page we see a note that further states that Mobile phones, Tablets, Laptops, Desktops, Monitors, Cameras and Camera lenses that are fulfilled by Amazon are not eligible for refund and have a replacement only policy. In case you have received a defective or a damaged mobile phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, monitor, camera or camera lens that is fulfilled by Amazon, you will be eligible for a free replacement by the seller as per the product replacement policies provided on Amazon.in. Any issues with these products will need to be brought up within 10 days of delivery to be eligible for a replacement product.

The website has not given any reason for implementing this new policy. But inside sources reveal that the policy is implemented to protect sellers from shoppers who take undue  advantage of Amazon’s no-question return policy. However, now Flipkart has also implemented a similar policy.
