Now users can create 3D panoramic images using a simple app available in Google Play Store. Google has released a new app for the same Cardboard Camera. This app lets one create 360 degrees panoramic photos in virtual reality. Imagine being able to view all the prized moments once again in full 360 degrees 3D panoramic view, just as experienced in real life. Google has made this possible and one no longer needs fancy equipment for the purpose. A simple download and installation is sufficient to start creating a digital album right through one’s smart phone.
While using the app, the user has to move 360 degrees in a circle while the camera does the recording. The app also records audio while you are at it and thus enabling livelier experience when viewed through the cardboard. When you place the smart phone in a cardboard and view the VR images, they will not only appear 3 dimensional, but will also be supported with audio recorded at that moment. This certainly has the potential to become the new fad of the tech crazy society.
According to Google, the VR photos are three dimensional panoramic images with slightly different views for each eye. As a result things are that are closer appear to be closer whereas objects that are comparatively farther away appear so.
Google explains the magic of the VR world in a blog post. It says, with Cardboard Camera, anyone can create their own VR experience. So revisit the mountaintop that took hours to hike, or the zoo where you saw (and heard) the monkeys, or your birthday party with the cake out and candles still lit. Capture the moments that matter to you and relive them anytime, from anywhere.
In September 2015, there were reports on Microsoft working on a similar concept called the VR Kit. If developed, it has the potential to rival Google’s Cardboard, especially after the success of its Holo Lens.
