With Microsoft recently curtailing free storage limit and paid storage tiers in OneDrive, users now have a wonderful opportunity to get more free storage with Google announcing a scheme for its users. Users have to help Google by contributing to its mapping and navigation service. The company has announced that it will be rewarding people who add useful information such as reviews, upload photos and mark tourist spots. The reward will be free storage in Google Drive as well as some other exciting perks including sneak peak into new features and products.

The company has divided the level of contribution from users into five tiers or rather five levels as Google calls it. Users begin with level one and upon reaching level two will get early access to new features and products from the company. Users progressing to level three will see a badge plastered against their name which is sure to gain a reputation among other users. Users moving up the ladder to level four get the promised 1 TB of free storage from Google and users who reach the top level five will be given a chance to attend the company’s inaugural summit in 2016 and even explore the Google campus while meeting other top guides.

It certainly appears that Google has put its mapping and navigation services to an aggressively fast track. Users can see holiday hours for businesses listed. The Android client received the much awaited offline navigation and search features. Google Drive, Google Sheets and Google Docs have also been updated side by side to add more exciting features which include being able to add comments and reply to existing comments on Google Sheets.  The Docs app on the other hand, now lets users save suggestions and comments. The addition of ‘recent view’ now enables smarter sorting in the Google Drive service.
