In a move to gain a potential high number of subscribers, Apple has made available its music services to android users. People using android devices can now enjoy more than 30 million songs from the Apple music store. This service is totally subscription based and was earlier exclusively available for Apple users. This move comes in response to Apple’s changing strategy to Google’s android operating system. The move certainly makes Apple seem like on the back foot. It could however be the company’s strategy to gain a very high number of subscribers, who don’t mind paying for services while staying rooted and loyal to android devices.
Android users who want to avail Apple’s music subscription service are offered a free trial for the first three months, post which they get an option to continue with the paid service. The subscription plans are same as apple users. Individual as well as family plans are available for those who want to share the benefit of Apple music subscription service with their family and friends. The subscription can be shared with up to six people.
Here are a few highlights of the service
Same features: Android users subscribing to Apple’s music subscription service get the same features that Apple users do. However, android users get a new user interface with new design which surely strikes a visual appeal.
Sound quality depends on phone hardware: The sound decoders installed on android devices are different on each device, which depends on the manufacturer’s specifications. Users may find it different from the performance on Apple devices because the similar hardware is used by Apple across its line of devices.
No voice control: One thing strikingly different from the Apple experience is the lack of voice control on android devices. This is because the Apple users have the benefit of the app syncing with Siri which isn’t available on android devices. The app does not yet sync with Google app voice control.
