The much awaited, Samsung Galaxy S8 will be launched on March 29th at an exclusive event in New York. The news broke out at the MWC 2017, where Samsung teased an image with an ‘Unbox your Phone’ message. The image highlighted the extremely thin, top and bottom bezels of the device, focusing on the impressive screen-to-body ratio of the S8. Alongside the Galaxy S8, the S8+ with its bigger display will also make its debut.
Based on the information we have so far, the Galaxy S8 will sport an overhauled design, minus any physical home button at the front. There are also rumors that the odd order of capacitive buttons has been changed to bring it in-line with the rest of the Android world. There could also be a dedicated button for Bixby – Samsung’s new AI assistant which will work with in-built apps as well. The Galaxy S8 will in all probability be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, backed with 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The handset is said to pack 64GB inbuilt storage, further expandable via a microSD card.
A big brother to the S8, the Galaxy S8+ will feature a 6.2-inch QHD+ SUPER AMOLED display. The phone will come with a 12MP rear camera with dual pixel tech, which will allow obtaining accurate focus on any objects in the frame regardless of the phone’s position. The front will be a 8MP lens. It gets an IP68 rating, which makes it dust and water-resistant for at least 30 minutes, at depths of up to 1.5m. The S8+ will get an IRIS scanner, which is the laziest way to unlock a phone and can also be used for other applications.
It will run Android 7.0 out-of-the-box and will be secured with military grade Samsung Knox technology. It is also rumored to feature support for Samsung Pay and wireless charging (a charging pad will be sold separately). To please audiophiles, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature AKG tuned earphones.
