Here’s all you need to know about the next flagship from the Chinese smartphone maker which has shaken up the industry with its disruptive OnePlus One. The next instalment in the luminary series, christened the OnePlus 2, is all set to create new benchmarks as regards performance, design, features and hopefully, value, like its predecessor did.
- Like in the case of any highly anticipated product, the Internet is abuzz with rumours and leaks, and those following the launch are having a tough time keeping up with the updates. So here it is – a no-nonsense post on everything you need to know about arguably the most anticipated phone of 2015. - The OnePlus one will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 (version 2.1) Octacore processor with the powerful Adreno 430 GPU
- The processor will be underclocked at 1.8 GHz to facilitate cooler operation and prevent throttling
- OnePlus will also be using graphite based materials and a special gel inside the casing for better dissipation of heat and ‘the coolest running OnePlus phone ever’ according to official sources
- The phone will get 4 GB of next generation DDR4 RAM – offering optimal support for power-saving low frequency mode to help extend battery life
- The OnePlus 2 will be one of the very few phones currently available to adopt the MacBook style reversible Type-C connector for faster charging, ease of use and a high speed of data transfer (upto 10 GB)
- Company’s CEO has hinted that the OnePlus 2 will feature full metal body. Expect the OnePlus 2 to be heavier than the OnePlus One, as hinted at by a few other sources as well.
- Battery size will be 3300 mAh, though the new age RAM and better power management may help the battery last longer
- A bit of a downer is the fact that the phone will not have any better PPI specs than its current gen version. The display is expected to be Quad HD 1080p as leaked by a user on Weibo
- The phone is rumoured to be made available in three variants; OnePlus 2 A2001, A 2003 and A2005 – in an ascending order of price and specs.
- Main camera will be a 16 megapixel shooter, and the front camera will be an 8 megapixel unit

- OnePlus two will feature a fingerprint scanner which will allegedly be even faster than a similar set-up on the iPhone 6
- The price of the OnePlus 2 will be higher than what was initially expected, and will range from $322 to $450
