So the cat is out of the bag. The OnePlus 3T, with a new processor, bigger battery, new color and a few other enhancements has delighted the brand’s fans on many counts.
However, the OnePlus fan community was looking at the new phone with anticipation and expected it to feature a brand new Sony IMX398 sensor, which it didn’t. It got a new 16mp front facing camera with PDAF instead.
We have reported in detail about the new OnePlus 3T in our previous report. However, the big question that people looking at the $450, or INR 30,000 segment are asking is, whether they should be buying the new model, or settle with the 3? Is the onePlus 3T worth the extra money?
There’s no straight answer to that question, though we can always evaluate the requirements of the customers along with their budgets and then suggest them the right product accordingly.
So let’s get the prices of the three variants out of the way along with the features and goodies available. Here’s a ready reckoner.

So should you buy the OnePlus 3T over the OnePlus 3?
Well, in all honesty, a $29 or INR 2000 premium for a phone that offers so much more sounds like a great deal to us. You should most definitely choose the OnePlus 3T 64 GB over the OnePlus 3 – it would be a perceptibly better overall experience.
You should opt for the 128GB option only if you are into taking high-definition videos more frequently than normal. At Gizmoids, we use our OnePlus 3 device to shoot videos sometimes, and that’s why we run out of space at times. However, for personal use, we are of the opinion that 64GB of storage is more than sufficient.
However, should you upgrade if you currently own a OnePlus 3?
Well, no. In very clear, unequivocal terms – NO! You should simply wait for the OnePlus 4 – no arguments whatsoever, there.
