OnePlus 3T Pop-Up Event in Mumbai : Quick Hands-On, Details and Images

We attended OnePlus India’s pop-up event in Mumbai with a little bit of guilt as we walked past the fans who have been probably waiting in the queue for hours. But hey, in our defence we journalists earn a hilarious salary and so we can enjoy a few perks. At the pop-up event, we managed to get our hands on the the new OnePlus 3T for a short stint and here is a quick hands-on experience of the new flagship killer.

Visually, as you may have already read in one of our previous reports, the OnePlus 3T isn’t any different from the OnePlus 3. But despite keeping the dimensions unchanged, OnePlus managed to pack a bigger battery inside the 3T versus the 3 — 3400 vs 3000 mAh. The 3T also gets the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC that is relatively powerful, faster, and power efficient than the 820 that is seen on the 3. OnePlus has also expanded the storage adding a 128 GB version to the product list along with a new colour option, the Gunmetal.

The build quality, similar to the OnePlus 3, is remarkable and there is very little to complain about. That being said, if we were to buy the phone, we’d opt for the optional OnePlus case as the device tends to slip from the hand. The Sandstone back case would be on top of our list as it gives that typical OnePlus feel to the smartphone.

The hardware upgrade list also features a new front camera. The 8MP front camera with Sony IMX179 sensor has been replaced with a more capable 16MP shooter with Samsung 3P8SP Sensor and the new unit is quite good. They’ve also added a sapphire glass on the rear camera which is aimed to make the shooter more scratch resistant. We’d comment on the specifics in detail once we get the review unit.

On the pricing front, as always, OnePlus has undercut other flagship products by a huge margin as the 64 GB variant of the OnePlus 3T is priced at INR 29,999 while the 128 GB comes at INR 34,999.
