OnePlus Three to go invite free

OnePlus, a smart phone manufacturing company that has tasted immense success with its OnePlus One and OnePlus Two devices has announced that the invite system will be done away with for the upcoming OnePlus 3 buyers. To receive an invitation to a OnePlus device, buyers initially had to request one from someone who already owned a device. Another possibility to receive an invite was to complete community engagement tasks on social media sites. Instantly buying a OnePlus device was not possible. The company wanted a way to scale their inventory according to demand, which is the reason they had this invite system. OnePlus did not want to go for flash sales, where users may or may not get a device while the stocks get over. The company could not manufacture so many devices and wait for the stock to clear, as there were no means of knowing how much demand would be there for the phones.

Now, the volumes of the sales have increased enough for OnePlus to do away with the invite system. One must note that millions of invites were sent over the past two years. The upcoming OnePlus 3 will be launched in a VR environment, the OnePlus headquarters in cyberspace, which is a computer generated futuristic environment. It is being rumored that those who are in The Loop can purchase the OnePlus 3 exclusively two hours before anyone else is able to. For India, the launch will start at 10:00 PM on June 14.

There is yet another way to get your hands on the OnePlus 3 before anyone else does. One can do so by participating in the OnePlus 3 critical appreciation program, or what the company calls, its “trial by fire”. Fans are invited to use and review the phone by signing up for The Lab. These devices, however belong to OnePlus and will have to be returned. The announcement that the invite system will be done away with for the OnePlus 3 comes via a forum post, which can be viewed here.
