Panasonic India has tied up with Amazon.in to launch its latest smartphone, the Eluga Icon, in India at a MRP of Rs 10,999.
Powered by a 1.5 GHz True Octa Core processor with 2 GB of RAM, the Icon features a 5.5 HD IPS (720×1280 pixels) screen, a 13 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front camera. It supports 4G LTE connectivity with India-specific LTE bands and is powered a large 3500mAh battery. It comes with 16 GB of inbuilt memory, which is further expandable to up to 32 GB via a micro SD card slot. Unfortunately, the Eluga Icon comes with the older Android KitKat operating system, which might be a deal-breaker for some who want to be in step with the latest OS updates.
Panasonic has also loaded the phone with its own software and tweaks, like iSense, a hand hover gesture based functionality; Smart Awake, which wakes up the screen on double tap; and Blink Play, which clicks selfies with a blink of an eye. It also features MediaTek’s HotKnot file transfer technology, which is similar to near field communications (NFC) in terms of application.
Apart from 4G, other connectivity options on the Eluga Icon include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, GPS/A-GPS, OTG support, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth. The handset also features ambient light sensor, accelerometer, e-compass, and proximity sensors.
