Phab2 Pro to be the first from Google, Lenovo partnership

One of the most exciting announcements at CES 2016 event was about search giant Google and lenovo teaming up for Project Tango. The project aims at bringing advanced 3D mapping and augmented reality on mobile devices of their own accord. All this is aimed at achieving without the need for GPS and other kinds of external signals. Just ahead of the announcement of the first Tango phone, a prolific tipster @evleaks, who is usually known for accurate leaks about smart phones, spills the beans. Yes, according to him, the Phab 2 is very likely to be the first Tango device from Project Tango. He has revealed that the device will include a 6.4-inch phablet with a Quad HD screen.

Devices from Project Tango are to be loaded with cameras. The last year’s prototype tablets featured a 4 MP rear camera, 180-degree fish eye lens, a front-facing camera with 120-degree field of vision and a depth camera that is able to shoot at 180 x 320 pixels. All those things are needed for the ambitious 3D mapping and measurement capabilities that search giant Google is envisioning. All future devices built on the platform will possess these capabilities.

Project Tango is all about letting one map the 3D space around oneself by using a combination of cameras such as a regular camera, an integrated depth sensing camera and a motion tracking camera. Such a 3D space mapping is done in real time and can help one out with navigating within shopping malls and several other internal locations. It also lets one interact with real life surroundings and thereby adding a layer of augmented reality to the mix.
