The Government might want you to believe in all things digital, but the charm of paper will never fade. Inside your wallet, a card can replace that crisp currency note but not the picture you love the most. So if you’ve always liked your memories to be etched on paper, this portable device called Prynt is just the thing you need.
The device plugs into your smartphone like a protective case and prints out a 2 x 3-inch photo on the other side within seconds. The outcome is printed on a sticky paper and thankfully, doesn’t need any drying. Every picture taken through the Prynt app records a video which is linked to that particular photo and stores it on the cloud. Once the picture has been printed, people you share the printed picture with can use the app to view the video or any hidden message that you might have for them. Prynt functions on an inkless technology called ‘ZINK’ which promises to print, vibrant, long-lasting, tear and smudge resistant photos and refills can be ordered through the app anytime.
Prynt is the brainchild of Clément Perrot and David Zhang, who founded the company in June 2014 in Paris, France. Former engineers with a passion for creativity and photos, they now have a team of 20, working in San Francisco. Their love for memories and the challenge to make them tangible again, led them to imagine this device. Prynt retails for $149 (Roughly Rs. 10,000) and comes with 5 pieces of sticky paper in the box. You may always order for more through the app. The device retails on Amazon India too, although at a slightly higher price of Rs.17,000.
