Reliance Communications to offer 4G data at Rs 93 per 10GB on RJio network

From this week onwards, Telecom operator Reliance Communications will start offering 4G service. This service will be offered in the beginning at INR 93 per 10GB using Reliance Jio network to its CDMA customers in select circles. An official source told PTI that  RCom has written to the Department of Telecom, informing the department that it will be using Reliance Jio Infocomm 4G network to provide 4G data service to its CDMA customers from next week. Only those CDMA customers who opted for the upgrade will get the service.

The data shared by the company with DoT showed that more than 90 percent of the 8 million RCom’s CDMA customers, have opted for the offered upgrade to 4G services. At the starting price of INR 93 RCom will provide 10 GB of 4G data.  When we compare the cost with competitors offering 4G services we find that RCom’s rate is nearly 94% less than that of its competitors. As per the rate published on the RCom website, in most circles, the rates will vary between INR 93 and INR 97 per 10GB.

As stated in the letter to DoT, 4G data service will be launched by RCom in 12 cities namely Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, UP East and West, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. And after DoT’s approval the company will expand service to six more circles namely Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Rajasthan by mid July. By using Reliance Jio data network on a pan-India basis the company has plans of offering 4G services by the middle of August. By putting in place spectrum trading and sharing agreements with Reliance Jio in most telecom circles and by paying over INR 6,600 crore, RCom has liberalised its 850 MHz band spectrum in 20 circles.
