Reliance Jio has emerged to be the fastest growing mobile network in India. Such is the growth story that it already has over 100 million subscribers since services first resumed on September 5th 2016. Since that time, for 170 days, the network has added nearly 7 new customers to its subscriber base every single second, of every single day. Jio users consumed more than 100 Cr GB of data on the Jio network! Today, India is the number ONE country in the world for mobile data usage, where Jio users consume nearly as much mobile data as the entire United States of America, and nearly 50% more mobile data than all of China.
In the coming months, Jio will more than double its data capacity. By the end of 2017, its network will be present in nearly all the cities, towns and villages of India, promising to cover 99% of the country’s population. However, its Happy New Year offer will come to an end on March 31st, 2017. Post which, Jio will operate with business as usual standards and charge customers for the services it provides. If you happen to be among those who’ve been using their services and will continue after the offer expires, here’s how much it will cost you.
On all of Jio’s tariff plans, all domestic voice calls to any network will always remain free. There won’t be any roaming charges, blackout days or any additional hidden charges. To ensure that its subscribers get the best value among all of its competitors, Jio has been monitoring all publicly announced plans from all operators, across the country, on a regular basis. They promise to not only match the highest selling tariffs of each of the other leading Indian telecom operators, but we will provide 20% more data in each of these plans.
Mr Mukesh Ambani announced a custom made program called ‘Jio Prime’ yesterday, where current Jio customers, and new customers who join the network on or before 31st March of this year, can enroll for the Jio Prime Membership for a full year, for a one-time fee of Rs. 99. Enrollment will start from the 1st of March – and will remain open until the 31st of March 2017.
Jio Prime members can continue enjoying the unlimited benefits that they have got used to during the JIO NEW YEAR OFFER for another twelve months – until 31st March 2018. So for an introductory price of Rs 303/month, Prime members can enjoy unlimited data (with a 1GB FUP limit) everyday. The network will also offer Extreme Value Plans exclusively for Jio Prime Members, and users will be able to see the details via The MyJio app or Jio.com. Jio Prime subscribers will also enjoy a full bouquet of Jio’s media services, worth over Rs 10,000, for an entire year, until 31st March 2018.
As of now, the Jio website and app still show tariff plans which have been in place since services resumed in September. However, with this new announcement, we expect a change in those plans. And since other networks have started offering additional data along with their existing plans, we expect Jio will keep its promise of providing 20% extra.
