January saw Reliance Jio selling LYF phones through Reliance Digital and Digital Express stores. They have started selling LYF branded devices online. In Amazon, RIL launched the first of the series smartphone called LYF Water 5, exclusively on online priced at INR 11,699. The launch of Reliance Jio’s LYF phone is seen as a forerunner to the roll-out of the company’s fourth-generation telecom services. Ambani described Reliance Jio as the world’s largest start-up. Mukesh Ambani has invented INR 1.5 trillion in its telecom venture.
In January Jio started selling through Reliance Digital and Digital Express and on the phone’s official web site. They are now tryingto expand their sales network. The company is communicating with multiple online and brick-and-mortar retailers to sell LYF smart phones and smart television sets. They plan other tie-ups and launching other devices online. An executive commented that online and offline retailers could include Flipkart, Snapdeal, Sangeetha Mobiles, Croma Retail, Vijay Sales and Mobile Store. An RIL spokesperson revealed that LYF devices are designed to enhance the digital experience of consumers, and our initiatives are directed towards bringing this differentiated experience to more and more users.
LYF phones come in four variants: Fire, Earth, Water and Wind, ranging from INR5,490 to INR 19,499. Rill has sold 1.5 million devices till the end of last month. Online channel sales indicate that RIL will not only earn some market share but will also give them new users outside their own employee base. Online will help further sales says an analyst. An RIL official said that Jio will also launch tablets, dongles, cameras and electronic wearables under the LYF brand Jio has expanded its trial service of Jio SIM cards on an invite-only basis and gives them a trial SIM card and an LYF phone. They will also enjoy unlimited voice calls and 4G data for a period of three months however the trial SIM cards are available only with LYF phone devices.
