Report: WhatsApp to get Gif Support in iOS Beta Release

The Facebook-owned messaging app, WhatsApp had resolutely resisted the gif invasion till date, however, WhatsApp for iOS’ latest beta release (v2.16.7.1) is now doing the rounds, and apart from numerous bug fixes and improvements, it brings support for auto playing gif images. Support for sharing animated images will certainly be a welcome feature addition for its users. As of now, it is unclear when Gif image support will roll out to users of the general release, or when it will be released on devices running on Android. The changes in the latest beta release of WhatsApp for iOS were reported by @WABetaInfo, which diligently tracks beta releases of the app.

Relying on third party apps for protecting WhatsApp chats is not the correct solution to this problem, and that too at a time when almost every day we come across news of hackers hijacking apps to steal data.
