I know someone who takes time out from work, so he could learn how to play the Violin. And now I know someone else whose work makes him take 3 months out to learn how to play the Piano. For his upcoming movie, ‘La La Land’, Ryan Gosling did just that. The 36-year old Actor plays the role of an LA based Jazz musician ‘Sebastian’ in the movie.
Recalling the experience, Gosling said that the Piano has been one of those musical instruments which he always wanted to play and wished he had the time to learn. He added, “In what other job is it a part of your job to just sit in front of a piano for three months and play? It was really one of the most fulfilling pre-production periods I’ve ever had.“
The director of the musical comedy-drama, Damien Chazelle has been in awe, and appreciates how Ryan was game to take on what was an insane challenge. He said, “We were not going to chop it up, we were going to film long takes to prove that it was him, in fact, playing.”
