Only a couple of days back we reported that Samsung was gearing up to launch an all new ‘glossy black’ version of its S7 Edge flagship. And lo and behold, the glossy black S7 Edge is here – leaked in all its glory and ready to hit the shelves next month. The phone was spotted on a Chinese website by the eagle eyed Samsung fanboys at SamMobile. The images provide a detailed view of the phone from almost all the angles.
While the S7 Edge is already available in a shade of black, namely Black Onyx, this one here, unlike the matte finish on the Onyx, gets a rich, deep, shiny surface that mimics the Jet Black variant of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
As we mentioned in our earlier post, the ‘explosive’ revelations about the Note 7’s battery have put the Korean manufacturer in serious jeopardy, and while the next flagship, the S8 is still some distance away, the company needed something to create a positive buzz and plug the gap. The new glossy black shade is meant to do just that, we think.
It’s hard to argue against the aesthetic appeal of the new shade. The phone looks really shiny and nice in that glossy black colour, though we are not quite sure whether it would be as much of a fingerprint and scratch magnet as the iPhone Jet Black or would offer a cleaner, more rugged finish.
The Blue Coral colour that made its debut on the Note 7 was introduced on the Galaxy S7 Edge some time back, and the Glossy Black version too will roll out before the year end.
The images you see here were leaked via a Weibo account belonging to a Samsung official in China.
Willing to buy the S7 Edge? You would do well to wait for a little longer and check out that stunning glossy black version in person before making your decision.
